Latest News of ASEAN ENERGY AWARDS 2009
Joint efforts by the ASEAN CENTER ENERGY ( ACE ) to tackle the energy matters in ASEAN region so as to upgrade the national economy of individual countries & this is the reason why ACE was formed. ASEAN price for energy was given to enhance energy management, economy use of energy and as a result the natural surroundings can be preserved.
Myanmar joined the competition in 2002 and had competed for 11 times getting first prize three times, second prize two times & third one time.
 For this present year 2009, in the competition for " Best Practices Competition for Energy Efficient Buildings Competition ( Tropical Building Category ) Shwe Inn Tha Floating Resort Hotel won the first prize followed by Belle Resort Simply Chaung Tha with second and enhanced the honour of the motherland - MYANMAR.
At the Shwe Inn Tha Floating Resort Hotel not a single aircon is / was installed & natural cool breeze is made to enter the room. The majority of room lighting is from natural sun light. Apart from that natural solar energy is used to provide hot water & cold water. Building meterials used are bamboo & teak totally avoiding bricks, cement, mild steel rods & only using natural products there by conserving the environment & maintaining it. In addition using only the labour / manpower of indeginious races like PaO, Inn Tha, Danu, Paloung who live in the environs. This create job opportunity for surrounding population & thus the Shwe Inn Tha Floating Resort Hotel truly deserved it's first prize given by ACE.
Shwe Inn Tha Floating Resort Hotel is 50 mins. boat ride from Nyaung Shwe & it is situated near the famous Phaung Daw Oo Zedi. It comprises of single bungalow type chalets with wooden poles, thet ke` roofing but with all modern facilities & amenities. Fourty rooms occupancy with in house swimming pool of international standard --- the only hotel of it's kind in Lake Inle. There by many international & local guest flocked to Shwe Inn Tha to take a dip. Besides, Inle is hot compared to the environs so swimming is a favourite pass time for all.
